An Investigation of Career Attainments of Universities' Graduates

This study is a response to the invitation by the Institute for Research and Planning in Higher Education, extended to university Faculty members and scholars to conduct research for enhancement on higher education. The study investigated the occupational capabilities of universities' graduates in the world of work In this light, A review of literature about career attainment reveals the university's role in enrichment of capabilities of graduates in work. Then, the researcher focuses on wether universities as a means of promoting career attainment have made impact in the graduate with especial reference to the following components: executive capacity, responsibility, specialization, commitment, general understanding, practical skills of workforce participation, academic ability, theoretical base, human relations and the applicability of the academic attainment in work Data on the sample size included 23 767 who graduated from universities in 1986 through 1988 were obtained from Bureau of Graduate Affairs affiliated with Ministry of Culture and Higher Education. Of these, 5980 were selected by using sampling simple randoms from graduates and their employers. 
The results of factors analysis provided strong confirm for the overall 91.1 percent of administrators and the employers and 84. 6 percent of graduates in favor of the appropriateness of graduates' field study and their job. The findings of this study also clearly support from both graduates arid their employers with an overall 69.3 percent in pursuing of the appropriateness of the use executive capabilities of graduates in different disciplines in work This research article has been prepared by Dr. Sayed Mohammad Mirkamali a faculty member of Tehran University who is hereby thanked.
