The Status of Forecasting in Higher Educational Planning

Despite the fact that mankind has been predicting future events for centuries, "forecasting" has become a new scientific field of study. Considering the endeavours of business executives to take advantage of the positive effects of forecasting, and the interdependence between forecasting and planning, it becomes obvious that some features of coordinated forecasting should be adopted. In this article Dr. Tabibi, Dean of the College of Medical Management and Information Sciences examines the various dimensions of forecasting, clarifies the interrelationship between forecasting and planning, and analyzes the status of forecasting in higher educational planning. The editorial board has been fortunate in having the article published in the Journal.
