In this article the author intends to acquaint readers with the Centers of Higher Education affiliated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization(UNESCO) in the world. To this end, the article first deals with the general structure and function of Unesco. This is followed with a good acquaintance with the International Association of Universities (/AU) affiliated with Unesco. The author introduces the Unesco Regional Center for Higher Education in Europe (CEPES) in Bucharest,the Unesco Regional Center for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRESALC) in Caracas, the Unit of Higher Education in the Unesco Principal Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (PROAP), United Nations University, Unesco Chair and Unitwin programs. The author then makes readers familiar with the Islamic Republic of Iran's request for establishment of a Regional Center for Higher Education in Asia and Pacific in Tehran affiliated with Unesco. The article sums up with the concluding remarks and some recommendations for the improvement of Higher Education in Iran by better utilizing the Unesco 's resources. The article also has an appendix, pointing out the Iranian proposal for establishment of a Center for Higher Education in Asia and Pacific in Tehran along with the final recommendations in this regard from Seventh Session ofAdvisory Commitee on Regional Co-operation in Education in Asia and the Pacific (Kuala Lumpur, 14-17 June 1993) and Sixth Regional Conference of Ministers of Education And Those Responsible for Economic Planning in Asia and the Pacific (Kuala Lumpur, 21-24 June 1993).
