This study investigated factors associated with job satisfaction among foreign educated faculty members in public universities in Iran. A total of 481 faculty members participated in this research. Factor analysis was used to determine the job satisfaction factors and variables. Results indicated that job satisfaction was related to economic, teaching, recreational and welfare, equipment and facilities, and motivational factors. A stepwise regression analysis was used to assess the effect of these factors on dependent variable (job satisfaction). As a result of this analysis economic and motivational factors remained in the model therefore, it was evident that economic and motivational factors play a much greater role in job satisfaction among foreign educated faculty members. It is suggested that job satisfaction improvement among this group of faculty members requires fundamental changes. Economic development, financial support of universities, changing higher education structure, autonomy, faculty participation, Strengthening departments at universities and dominance of academic culture are prerequisites for improvement of job satisfaction.
