Existing Status of Higher Education in Iran A Comparison with the 26 Countries of the World

Abstract

The present articll'a,n􀀍es the existing status of hihger education with respect to the followingJn<Ji.catb'rs: Gross enrolment ratio by age 20-24 years old, number of students per 100000 inhabitants, public expenditure on higher education, total and as percentage of GNP, student-teacher ratio and number of researchers per 1000000 inhabitants. 
To this end, the author first depicts the status of the 27 countries of the world under classification so called developed, developing and under developed countries. She then elaborates the governance of state and the private sectors at the third level of education in the 9 countries of the world. The final section is concluding remarks and some recommendations in Iran.
