Abstract
Engineering education and training at a university level serves as a preparation for engineering practice, thus teaching and practice are closely inter-related. The current ''publish or perish" policies of North American universities have resulted in a divorce between teaching and practice. Steps to redress the balance are thus proposed in this article.
