A Study of the Impact of Medical Program on Medical Graduates, and Efficiency of the Program in Achieving a Proper Balance with the Needs of Society

This article reviews the performance of the current medical education system, and weighs how well or poorly it measures up. A random sample of 713 physicians in the health care system was selected and asked their opinions. 
The questionnair was designed with specific questions about contents, management, and goals of current education system. The foregoing survey leads to the general conclusion that medical education system is not successful in achieving allocative and technical efficiency. Furthermore, experts in the field believe that the current educational system is not organized to ensure efficient use of time in the field of Clinical Medicine. The efficiency of skill generating system could be greatly improved by closer linkages between Medical Schools and hospitals. The task of building the necessary bridges between the instruction of Clincical Medicine and hospitals is of paramount importance. A comprehensive, close attention is also needed in the field of Physiopathology. One possible long range solution to current problems is to increase the number of these courses. A high priority must also be assigned to the flow of information. Little attention has heen paid at least until recently to Computer Courses. Not only is this spectrum of activities required for reasons associated with the transfer of know- how, but also for the need to develop indigenous problem identification and solving capacity. 
In conclusion Mr Hossein Salmanzadeh- Vice President for Culture and Student Affairs at Iran University of Medical Science- and his colleagues have made several consistent recommendations for rational determination of educational policies and feasible improvement in medical education system.
