Abstract
In this article the necessity for the basic familiarization of the library students with the materials collected in the library as well as providing services with respect to the subject areas has been reiterated. In the next step, the author deals with background of the non-library-meterials, teaching to the western librarians pointing out the weaknesses of the Iranian curriculum with respect to their majors in sciences. Using the statistical models of F and T, the performance of students in (1) Library science courses (2) English and French language courses and (3) Basic science courses were tested. It was found that the students are confronted with serious proplems regarding learning general mathematics, general physics and general chemistry. By changi,ng the content of the courses from pure chemistry topics to practical topics in library sciences, the students contrived to increase their performance, the students managed to increase their scores to a satisfactory level. In the end a number of recommendations have been made for the purpose of improving the quality of the course contents.
