Abstract
In two last decade, growing globalization and integration economic lead to more investment on higher education but studies have shown that education by itself does not guarantee sucesseful development. In this article the impact of higher education on economic growth in closed and open economies have been studied. Open markets can increase the impact of education on economic growth. We used a panel data regression in 82 countries for the period of 1980-2000. In open economies, higher education has a positive relationship with economic growth whereas in closed economies higher education does not have a significant impact on economic growth. Open ecanomics can increase the impact of higher education on economic growth.
