Abstract
This article investigated the status of life - long learning programmes in higher education oflran. Findings show relatively weak performance of the universities in design ad offerings of such programmes. It appears that the concept of life - long learning is not fully undrestood among the universities under the supervision of M.S.R.T. Among the most impo1iant factors affecting such weak performance are: lack of financial independence of the universities and the absence of encompassing policy with regard to such activities in M.S.R.T.
