The university social responsibility, like other human and social concepts, depends on its contextual characteristics. To understand the university social responsibility in the Iranian context, with its specific conditions, the Strauss-Corbin Grounded Theory was used as an approach to understand causal conditions, the focal phenomena, effective contexts, intervening variables, faculty strategies, methods, and outcomes. Participants were 50 faculty members, doctoral students, higher education experts, university administrators, higher education policy makers, and civil society activists, academic community activists in councils, and social cultural institutions who were selected through purposeful sampling. In-depth Interviews were conducted with 17 experts. In order to complete data 3 focus with 33 participants were formed. The results of data analysis were presented in a model and strategies were identified at three levels: macro (government), middle (university administration) and micro (faculty members). Finally, a definition of university social responsibility as a social institution was presented. What is certain is that such a normative expectation that can lead to sustainable development and increase the quality of life and the realization of human rights and reduction of human dignity is not possible without the full involvement of internal and external constituencies. هدف این پژوهش مفهوم­ سازی مسئولیت اجتماعی دانشگاه در کشور ایران بود. از آنجا که مسئولیت اجتماعی دانشگاه مانند سایر مفاهیم انسانی و اجتماعی به ویژگی‌های زمینه خود وابسته‌ است، برای فهم مسئله مسئولیت اجتماعی دانشگاه در موقعیت ایران و با شرایط خاصی که دارد، روش کیفی مبتنی بر نظریه بر پایه اشتراوس-کوربین راهنمای شناخت شرایط علّی، پدیده کانونی، زمینه‌های مؤثر و متغیرهای مداخله کننده در مسئولیت اجتماعی دانشگاه، راهبردها و روش‌های اعضای هیئت علمی، فرایندها و پیامدهای آن قرار گرفت. در نمونه هدفمند 50 نفر از اعضای هیئت علمی، دانشجویان دکتری، خبرگان آموزش عالی، مدیران دانشگاهی و سیاستگذاران آموزش عالی، فعالان غیرهیئت علمی نهادهای مدنی، فعالان در انجمن علمی، شوراها و نهادهای فرهنگی اجتماعی با 17 نفر به ­صورت فردی مصاحبه عمیق اکتشافی شد و برای تکمیل داده‎ها 3 گروه‌ کانونی شکل گرفت که درمجموع، 33 نفر حضور داشتند. نتایج پژوهش از تحلیل داده‌ها در قالب مدلی ارائه و راهبردها در سه سطح کلان (دولت)، میانی (مدیریت دانشگاه) و خُرد (اعضای هیئت علمی) مشخص شد. درنهایت، تعریف مسئولیت اجتماعی دانشگاه به ­عنوان نهاد اجتماعی ارائه شد. آنچه مسلم است، چنین انتظار هنجارینی که می‌تواند به توسعه پایدار و افزایش کیفیت زندگی و احقاق حقوق و کاهش مرارت‌های بشری بینجامد، بدون مشارکت همه ­جانبه ذینفعان درونی و بیرونی تحقق‌پذیر نیست. https://journal.irphe.ac.ir/article_702979_6bd5eba8bbfafce778a776051e44a682.pdf
