Recent Reforms of Higher Education Policies in China

چکیده [English]

Marketisation , political democratisation, evaluation of the development model, globalization of national economy, accelarating developments in information and communication technologies, population changes,_ reduction and constraints of government resources for higher· education, are major forces which have had the most .profound impacts on higher education reform policies in china. The expanded and dirersified Chinese higher education, however confront􀀟 major problems and difficulties which make fundamental reforms imperative and compelling to revitalise the higher education system-to meet the growing dirersified manpower needs through relevant and quality programs. Chinese Education Reform and Development Program, set the objectjves of higher education development for 1990's. The program concentrate resources on around 100 major universities and key academic disciplines. Transforming the administration of higher education through decentralization and increased institutional autonomy, diversification of institutions to break the government monopoly in sponsoring, strengthened university- - based high tech business, university - - industry partnership, - reform in curricula, instruction, diversifying funding sources, transforming of college graduate placement and employment system, and internalisation of higher education are among major reforms in Chinese higher education.
