چکیده [English]

Hamid Nadimi (Ph.D.), Institute for Research and Planning in Higher Education

Education in the field of architecture and the related problems can be discussed on the basis of two major factors : firstly, the specification of the patterns mostly de1ived Jann European societies, and secondly, the ve,y condition ruling over the higher education b{lses in Iran. Thus, in order to present any analysis of the problems somehow related to architecture, it is essential to consider these two factors quite precisely. While referring to the initial movements of higher education which were patterned upon. Western styles, the present article has a glance at the acadeniic education traditions in the field of architecture which in Iran, like many other countries, have been based on the patterns and processes followed in Ecole des Beaux - A11s (School of Fine Ans) in Paris and revised through adopting the developments qf such education in Western schools. The article continues with surveying the impol1ant developments made to form architecture education in the world, while believing in the notion that knowing the Western traditions in architecture education and their development trends ( of course, not as a fixed and final condition) will help us have a critical view on the very process adopted for the same pwpose in Iran This way, the major aspects of the current architecture education de1ived from these patterns in Iran can be effectively studied. In conclusion, · through mentioning the ref onnatory developments ocu.rred after the Islamic Revolution, the article emphasizes the necessity for the present architecture education system to be revised. By way of surveying such histo, ical developments and the relevant consequences which account for the relativity of these educational patterns, the various aJpects and dimensions of the cun·ent condition of architecture education in Iran a re discussed in the article. It goes without saying that a reasonable analysis of these aspects and determination of proper approaches to each of them may call for a seperate research.
