An Economic Appraisal of the Wages and Salaries of the Universities Faculty Members in Iran During 1983-1998/1362-1377 A.H (the Case of Mazandaran University)

چکیده [English]

The· purpose of the present paper . is to determine the importance of different factors such as the year of experience, rank ,base· the involvement· in executive affairs on wages and salaries of the University of Mazandaran faculty members during 1983-1998. The results of the present paper show that:1.    The salaries of the universities faculty inembers
2.    · The estimate regression models indicate that among factors. related to salaries of the. faculty members the involvment in executive affairs, ranks, d􀁍gree, base, and the Years of experienceare respective_ly important. The years of experience are respectively important. 3. The mcrease in salaries as a result of a promotion ( I.e higher rank) is less that the increase in salaries as a result of involvement in executive affairs of the Universities. We have concluded that in order to improve the quality and especially to create sufficient incentive for faculty rnemhers to involvo in search oriented affairs, we need to make a revision in the payment mechanism and recommend the policy makers of the Ministry of Sciences, Researches, and Technology to bear in mind the features of the faculty members in making decisions related to increases in their wages and salaries.
